For professionals who look beyond the error message!
Do you have experience with GC, GC/MS or analytical instrumentation and would you like to work in a role where your technical expertise truly makes a difference? Then this position may be an excellent fit for you.
At Interscience, we have been providing high-quality GC and GC/MS solutions to laboratories across the Benelux for more than 50 years. We do more than supply instruments: we also provide expert support with applications, methods, troubleshooting, optimisation and tailored solutions. Our strength lies in expertise, service and short lines of communication. Customers choose us because we look beyond standard solutions.
As a Service Specialist GC, GC/MS, you will work on technical and analytical challenges where your experience adds real value. You support customers when systems are not performing optimally, analyses are not reproducible or expert technical guidance is required. You combine technical expertise, application knowledge and a service-oriented approach to help customers move forward.
You will join an innovative SME with extensive specialist expertise, committed colleagues and an informal way of working together. You can count on short communication channels, direct collaboration and an environment where your expertise matters and where there is room for initiative, professional development and enjoyment in your work.
What will you do?
You will act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and colleagues. When dealing with complex issues, you look beyond the initial error message: you identify the cause, determine the right approach and ensure professional follow-up.
Your responsibilities include:
-
analysing and resolving complex technical issues;
-
performing preventive maintenance, repairs and qualifications;
-
optimising GC and GC/MS systems;
-
advising customers on technical and analytical challenges;
-
acting as a product specialist and trusted advisor to colleagues, customers and suppliers;
-
mentoring colleagues in diagnostics, troubleshooting and advanced technical knowledge;
-
further specialising in technologies such as single quadrupole, triple quadrupole, TOF and Orbitrap systems.
This is certainly not a standard service role. One day you may be resolving a complex technical issue, while the next you may be contributing to system optimisation, root cause analysis or a tailored customer solution. This combination of technology, analysis and customer contact makes the role particularly interesting.
You will work independently, but never alone. You will be part of a team with extensive specialist expertise, where colleagues support one another and knowledge sharing comes naturally.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced technician or specialist who wants to support customers and make a strong technical contribution to reliable analyses. Someone who not only wants to resolve an issue, but also understands the technical and analytical principles behind it and can share this knowledge with customers and colleagues.
You bring:
-
proven experience with GC and/or GC/MS;
-
knowledge of chromatography and/or mass spectrometry;
-
a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field;
-
strong analytical and technical skills to systematically diagnose complex issues;
-
experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs and/or qualifications;
-
an independent, proactive and customer-oriented approach;
-
strong communication skills;
-
a good command of Dutch and English, and preferably French as well.
You will fit in well at Interscience if you enjoy understanding technology at its core, helping customers move forward and solving challenging technical problems. You are energised by complex technology, collaboration, knowledge sharing and solutions that genuinely work in practice.
What do we offer?
-
the opportunity to work for the specialist in GC and GC/MS solutions;
-
a technically challenging and varied role;
-
freedom, responsibility and room for initiative;
-
extensive opportunities for personal growth and specialisation;
-
the opportunity to work with high-quality, innovative laboratory technology;
-
a team of knowledgeable and committed colleagues;
-
a flexible working week of 4 or 5 days;
-
Louvain-la-Neuve as your home base, with most of your work carried out at customer sites;
-
a competitive salary, a 13th-month payment and profit-sharing scheme;
-
an attractive package of fringe benefits, including meal vouchers, group insurance, hospitalisation and outpatient insurance, a year-end gift and more;
-
a permanent employment contract;
-
a company car, laptop and mobile phone;
-
20 days of annual leave and 6 additional ADV days;
-
an informal SME with short communication channels, a personal approach and a pleasant working atmosphere.
